Taos, New Mexico is a historic town in north-central New Mexico known for its vibrant arts community, dramatic mountain landscapes, and the ancient Taos Pueblo.
Major Attractions:
Taos Pueblo: A UNESCO World Heritage site featuring multi-story adobe buildings continuously inhabited for over 1,000 years.
Taos Ski Valley: A popular destination for winter sports located in the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Rio Grande Gorge Bridge: A striking landmark offering panoramic views high above the river canyon.
Taos is a must-visit place for anyone within 50-miles, which qualifies for new residents of Santa Fe. Getting there and back should include the “high road” one way and the “low road” to complete the trip. Both are unique and interesting. Whether going to ski or visiting the Pueblo or buying art.
Understanding that the area has been occupied more than 1000-years can be staggering. Natural resources are scarce, as evidenced by the consistent materials used to build housing.
Bottom line: It was a really fun day for us. Probably no calling to return.
