After getting my MSEE-Digital Systems from NPS Monterey, I had orders to report to Naval Electronic Systems Command in Crystal City Virginia. We hired an agent who sent us listings via snail mail (remember, it’s 1980). The house we picked looked perfect, so we asked Anne’s Uncle who had moved more times than anyone, ever (CIA undercover), who visited and reported “Great, but needs new carpets.” We purchased the house, drove almost non-stop from Monterey so that we’d arrive in time to supervise new carpets and be ready for our furniture and belongings arriving in a moving van.
